  2. click where it says untitled document
  3. When the dialogue window opens type in the name of your doument.

Tech 1: Typing

Now that we have done 3+ weeks of typing it is time to work on speed. I would like to hear what your goals are for your first speed test this Friday and what your plans are for meeting them.

This is a journal entry so your comments should follow the grading rubric for journal entries use following link to view Journal: http://bit.ly/9jWC7X. Also you need to identify yourself with your first name so you can get credit.

Rough drafts of programs

As you are working on writting your program to the 50 yard line there are some things to keep in mind:
  1. What measurement are you going to use?
  2. Be descriptive in what you want your robot to do
  3. Try out your program (proofread) often to make sure you are on target
What advice would you give to improve this activity. How could you apply this to the outside world?

Flow charting

For those in my tech 2 class we are 2 days in the flow charting and I would like to hear from you about how it is going. In your response what do you think could be done differently and what can you tell me about a flow chart?

No talk to Mr. G day

Now that we have had our first no talk to Mr. Garrett day I would like to have some discussion about how it went. From my point of view things went well. I really liked how most of you found a way to talk with  me as well as talked with each other when you encountered an issue. I know that I need to work on checking my email regularly as well as checking the question annoucement on lanschool. My questions to you are:
1. How could I have done a better job?
2. What ways did you use to communicate?
3. What are some struggles you had?
4. What could you do differently next time?

Sending in assignments

Be sure to title your assignments when sending them in to me. Untitled documents shared with me will not be accepted.

Light sensor

An interesting fact about the light sensor is that it senses things in grey scale not color. Meaning that it doesn't actually see the red and blue ball it sees a dark grey (blue) and light grey (red) ball.

Mr. Garrett out

I will be filling in for Mr. Robinson on Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. If you need to get ahold of me you may email me, or add a post to the blog.

Battery Charging

It is your responsibiliy to make sure your batteries are charged. When you turn on your robot there is a battery indicator that lets you know how full your battery is charged.

To charge your battery find a charging station for your battery (white small connector, grey large connector), plug in your battery, see if there is a charged on in the charge box. Remember they take about 4 hours to charge.

Lego light sensor

Students working with lego NXT lego light sensors today and struggling with how to use them. This is a perfect opportunity to show them how to use the help menu on the NXT programming progam. Will be interesting to see what they find out and if they choose to share this information.

Along to that end any information that any of you can shed on the subject might be helpful to them and me as well.

Robots full swing

We are full swing into our robotics lessons now. We have done some lessons on creativity and the basic Lego NXT robotics vocabulary. Students need a good job of mastering these concepts and we will be revisiting them as the semester progresses.

We have started with our demo lessons and will be working on them for the next couple of weeks. In these lessons students are learning the in's and out's of the programing blocks, building, following directions and troubleshooting. From here we will be moving into exploring blocks and senors through a series of challenges where students need to build a robot to complete a specific task.
